INPACT member sponsors bike ride to Paris

Team Rynkeby is a Nordic cycle team that cycle from Scandinavia to Paris every summer to raise money for children with cancer and their families.

The idea for the event came from Rynkeby Foods employee, Knud Vilstrup, after he was diagnosed with COPD and wanted to ensure he was living a healthier lifestyle. He decided to set up a bike ride to Paris to see the final stage of the Tour de France.

In 2002, 10 cyclists and a volunteer in a minibus completed the first cycle to Paris raising €5,100 for Odense University Hospital. Since then the event has grown significantly. Now 1,700 cyclists and 450 volunteers divided into 44 local teams in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, the Faroe Islands and Iceland take part.

Team Rynkeby has raised over €19 million to fight childhood cancer in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and the Faroe Islands since 2002.

Commenting on its sponsorship of Team Rynkeby, Aaltonen & Co Ky Partner, Jukka Silvo said: “We’re delighted to be one of the 5,500 sponsors of Team Rynkeby. They raise an enormous amount of money each year to fight childhood cancer and rely on our sponsorship for vital equipment such as vehicles, fuel, food and drink. We have supported them every year since the event was set up, as we believe it is a truly worthy cause.”
